A LONG OVER DO CATCH UP!

Well this is by far the LONGEST I have gone without posting since I started blogging some eight or nine years ago.  There are a few reasons for this I think....First, I really have been very busy.  But then I got behind and it seemed overwhelming to catch up.  And then....I had some sort of issue with my phone where I was unable to send pictures from my phone to my email account which is how I get pictures from my phone camera onto my lap top which is where is I do my blog post from...sigh. And who wants to blog without posting pictures, right?  lol.  But this morning I decided I was going to remedy the problem no matter what.  It took a while, and somebody from technical support walking me through several steps, (I've no idea what I actually did!) but it finally worked and here I am!  Sooo now  where in the world do I start?  I think I have decided to just post the pictures I want to be in my books, and not go into much of any detail at all.  I have a feeling (if I even have any readers left), most of you won't miss my L O N G drug out posts anyway.  I have posted most of these on my Instagram account, so if you have seen these I do apologize.  (wink)

Soo I see that I left off with Cody's visit.  We went on from there to have Tella, JD, Capri, Jeffie and Lindsey over as well.  Can't even really describe the fun and unique visits we had with each one of them.  The time spent will be treasured for always, and how grateful we both were to get it.  We played games and cards, shopped, went to the movies, had special meals both in and out, and enjoyed it all soo much.   And in between grandkid visits this summer we finally finished up the painting and repair work we did on this house.  We re-did the floors. the kitchen, and the master bed and bath. Trust me, we are both sooo done with these kind of projects for a while.  At least until spring time I think anyway, lol.  I will share the pics I got of all of these things now....

I guess I haven't blogged in a while and can't remember things because I can't seem to get things straight.  But this is it for now...hopefully I will get back on board now and get around and see what all of you have been up to.  Many, many blessings to you all Debbie

THIS IS 8 YEAR OLD TELLA WHO IS MY ONE GRANDCHILD WHO IS INTERESTED IN SEWING!  CAN'T SEEM TO SPARK UP ANY INTEREST WITH THE REST OF THEM, BUT THAT'S OK.  TELLA WANTED TO SEW AND I WAS HAPPY TO OBLIGE.  THIS KIND OF FABRIC IS NOT EASY TO SEW ON BUT SHE REALLY DID VERY WELL.  NEXT TIME I THINK WE WILL TACKLE A PILLOW CASE, AND THAT SHOULD BE A LOT EASIER.

HERE IS THE LITTLE TOP WE  SHE MADE!  SOO CUTE ON HER!

THIS WAS TAKEN AFTER OUR BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING TRIP, AND BEFORE OUR MOVIE!

FOR SOME REASON THIS IS THE ONLY ONE I GOT OF 11 YEAR OLD JD.  HE WAS A COMPLETE DELIGHT WHICH IS THE ONLY WAY TO DESCRIBE HIM!  HE AND I PLAYED BOARD GAMES AND CARDS AND CAUGHT A MOVIE AND HE DID MORE BOYISH TYPE THINGS WITH GRANDPA, LIKE HIT DAVE AND BUSTERS AND RIDE GO CARTS.  THIS WAS TAKEN ON HIS LAST DAY AND LAST LUNCH OUT.  WE WENT TO FARRELL'S ICE CREAM PARLOR WHICH IS DEFINITELY HIS NEW FAVE!  SOO FUN!

AND HERE IS 12 YEAR OLD CAPRI.  SHE HAS GOTTEN TO BE SUCH A BIG GIRL AND YOUNG LADY!  LOVED MY TIME WITH HER TOO.  SHE IS 5'7" AND JUST AS PRETTY AS CAN BE.  WE SHOPPED, WENT TO A MOVIE, LUNCHED OUT, AND ON HER LAST DAY I TOOK HER TO JESS'S SHOP TO GET HER DONE BEFORE SHE STARTED 7TH GRADE THIS YEAR.  JESS ADDED JUST A FEW HIGHLIGHTS TO HER HAIR, DONE IN SUCH A WAY SHE WILL NOT HAVE ANY ROOTS GROWING IN.  IT'S NOT ACTUALLY A HIGHLIGHT, BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT IT'S CALLED.  SHE MATCHED IT WITH HER NATURAL SUN LIGHTENED HAIR AND IT LOOKED REALLY PRETTY!

HERE SHE IS WITH JESS AFTERWARDS...CAN'T BELIEVE SHE IS ACTUALLY TALLER THAN JESS!  LOL

SOOO PRETTY AND NATURAL LOOKING!
AND MY JEFFIE.  WE ARE AT LUNCH HERE AFTER BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING.  HE IS GETTING TO BE SOO OLD AT 13 NOW I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IT.  HE IS DEFINITELY AT THAT HARD, SOMEWHAT AWKWARD IN BETWEEN AGE THESE DAYS, BUT HE AND I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SO CLOSE.  WE JUST "GET" EACH OTHER IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.  SOOO ENJOYED MY TIME WITH HIM!

PRETTY GIRL....LOOK AT THOSE EYELASHES, AND NOT A SPECK OF MAKE UP ON!

I AM PRETTY SURE I'VE SHOWN THIS BUT NOT WITH THE PICTURES ON THE WALLS, AND MY NEW TEA POT!
SOO EXCITED WITH THIS NEW POT!  IT WAS THE PERFECT COLORS AND I COULDN'T RESIST!
LOVE THE BIRD!  THOUGH I WILL ADMIT THE TEA POT WAS WAY BIGGER THAN I WAS EXPECTING
VIEW INTO THE MASTER BATH...THE SHOWER AND THE SUNKEN TUB ARE TO YOUR LEFT.  WE USED THE SAME GREEN FROM THE KITCHEN HERE JUST FLIP FLOPPED.  THIS TIME THE CABINETS WERE GREEN AND THE WALLS THE LINEN WHITE.  I REALLY LIKE THIS.  IT WAS THE ONLY ROOM WE DID NOT RE PAINT WHEN WE MOVED IN 7 YEARS AGO, AND IT WAS IN DESPERATE NEED.  TOOK WAY WAY LONGER TO DO THIS ROOM THAN WE PLANNED.  I RECOVERED MY VANITY CHAIR SITTING THERE, AND SPRAY PAINTED THE LEGS GOLD.  COULDN'T FIND A NEW TRASH CAN THAT DIDN'T COST A FORTUNE, SO I SPRAY PAINTED IT GOLD TOO, LOL.  COLOR IS NOT REAL GOOD HERE BUT THE RUGS ARE A PRETTY GOLD!
HERE IS ONE SIDE OF THE TUB....THIS PICTURE WAS IN OUR ROOM BUT WORKED BETTER IN HERE.  AND THE BIRD HOUSE WAS IN MY KITCHEN WINDOW SILL BUT IT WAS BETTER SUITED HERE.  I OFTEN MOVE THINGS AROUND (OR HOUSE SHOP AS CHERYL FROM THINKING ABOUT HOME CALLS IT, LOL) WHEN I RE DO ROOMS.
I ENDED UP MAKING THESE TOWELS MYSELF WHEN I COULDN'T FIND DECORATIVE ONES TO MATCH.  THE TOWEL ITSELF IS THE SAME GOLD AND LINE AS THE RUGS, AND THEN I ADDED ON THE FABRIC, THE CORDING, AND THE EMBROIDERY DESIGN.  WAY, WAY EASIER THAN I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE.  I MIGHT BE DOING SOME MORE OF THESE IN THE FUTURE!
THE LIGHTING IS SOOOO BAD IN HERE WHAT WITH THE WINDOWS (THERE IS ANOTHER ONE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DRESSER) BUT I DID THE BEST I COULD.  YOU CAN'T SEE VERY WELL FROM THIS PICTURE BUT WE PAINTED 3 OF THE WALLS IN HERE WITH THE SAME LINEN WHITE AS THE BATHROOM.  I HAD ORIGINALLY INTENDED TO PAINT THESE WALLS A LIGHT GOLD, BUT GOT ONE OF THE WALLS DONE AND DECIDED I HATED IT, SO WE SWITCHED TO THIS...MUCH BETTER!  MY POOR HUBBY I THINK WANTED TO STRANGLE, SILENCE, KICK, SHAKE ME BY THE TIME WE FINALLY FINISHED THIS ROOM, LOL.  DEFINITELY TIME TO QUIT!  HONESTLY IF OUR YOUNGEST SON JAMES HAD NOT COME AND HELPED US FINISH UP, WE'D HAVE AT LEAST ANOTHER WEEK-END BEFORE WE WERE DONE!  SOOO GRATEFUL!  LOL
JUST ANOTHER VIEW...THAT'S MY MOM'S CHAIR, AND A PIECE OF MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER'S QUILT

AND HERE'S THE WALL ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DRESSER.  WE PAINTED IT IN THE GREEN AND I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!  I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED DARK, RICH PAINT AND HAD QUITE A BIT OF IT OVER THE YEARS.  BUT THIS HOUSE IS QUITE A BIT SMALLER AND I HAVE NOT FELT LIKE SIZE WISE IT COULD "HANDLE" THE DARKER PAINT.  BUT I DECIDED ONE FOCAL WALL WOULD BE JUST FINE.  I DELIBERATED, AND DELIBERATED ON THIS, TOOK SURVEY'S AND HONESTLY JUST COULD HARDLY MAKE UP MY MIND, BUT FINALLY DECIDED TO GO WITH IT, AND I AM SOO GLAD I DID.  I KNOW IT'S NOT FOR EVERYBODY, BUT I DO LOVE IT...
JUST A LITTLE CLOSER LOOK

  4. That was great! It is fun to see those handsome grandsons and beautiful granddaughters grow before our eyes. And Tella wants to sew...woot!

All your efforts and hard work have paid off because your home looks beautiful. That "kettle" is lovely! Wish we could put the kettle on and have ourselves some tea and conversation. Blogging IS the next-best thing.

  6. You sure have been busy and it all looks great. It is remarkable what a fresh coat of paint can do for a room and our spirits. My goodness, you could go into business doing towels. Those are just beautiful! So glad to you back with your updates. I missed you on the Hodgepodge yesterday, by the way. And those grandkids are so beautiful and handsome. What a blessing to have had them for extended visits.

  7. I'm glad you caught up here! Sometimes it does feel overwhelming, but I think you did the right thing. Just dive in and start somewhere : ) I love your granddaughter's hair...it's kind of ombre-so pretty! Your house looks gorgeous, and I'm sure you're enjoying the end result. So nice to see you back. I'm behind too. Obviously : )

  8. First of all, I want to thank you for your kind words regarding the death of my brother...he will be dearly missed. You have definitely been a busy girl and your home looks wonderful! I would have never guessed you did not buy those towels that way...very nicely done! And I know it warms your heart to be able to teach a grand daughter how to sew...even if she is the only one! Have a blessed week, Debbie :)
